MIchael Kavanagh
TOP RESTAURANT CONSULTANT
Michael began his restaurant career in 1992 as a 17 year old dishwasher for a local Italian restaurant in his hometown, Mississauga, Ontario. Over a short few years with dedication, passion and drive, Michael advanced quickly through the ranks, ultimately becoming General Manager before his 20th birthday. During this time Michael's love for the industry grew and he knew the restaurant business was his future.
In 1996 Michael joined Outback Steakhouse, a global restaurant chain new to Canada, as a manager. Michael worked hard, learned everything and anything he could and, at the age of 25, became the youngest Managing Partner in Outback Steakhouse history. During Michael's tenure at Outback, he helped grow the chain in Canada from two restaurants to fifteen within a few years.
After Outback, Michael moved on to SirCorp as a General Manager/Chef of Canyon Creek Chophouse, an upscale steakhouse in Toronto. Michael helped reconstruct the concept’s operations with new systems and training programs and was instrumental in the concept's expansion from a couple locations to several across Southern Ontario.
Over the years, Michael worked as a Director of Operations with a few top businesses bringing their success to higher levels. Tabule Restaurant Group, #1 Middle Eastern chain with multiple locations in Toronto was a great place to use a variety of new and revised systems and strategies which led all locations to a 20% increase in revenue and a 10% increase in profits within the first year of his direction.
Michael then stretched his wings to leading a couple top Catering & Event companies within Toronto. There he learned to carve his skills and expand his hospitality portfolio with large national sporting events, weddings and venue special events. Bringing these companies higher revenues and profits while utilizing new systems and strategies.
Michael established Old Fashioned Restaurants - Hospitality Consulting in 2014. His mission is to share his wealth of knowledge along with his incredible success rate that has resulted from over 29 years of restaurant and hospitality experience. He is dedicated to helping new and existing restaurants & venues optimize their business, increase their revenue and profits, revitalize (or create) their brand and happily, make their dreams come true.
